I made my henna a bit thinner than most and used a squeeze bottle to apply it, works especially well on roots. I also freeze my mud in the same squeeze bottle, I even stopped doing the normal type dye release, instead I would mix it up and freeze before I ever used. That way I always had mud ready for when I had time to apply it instead of having to plan ahead of time.

    Mix:
I mix in a glass jar (with a lid). I'm very laid back about it as I've been doing it for about 15 years. I just dump some henna powder into the jar, add some lemon juice and them enough water to make it the right consistency. I never measure. I let it stand for at least 4 hours, add more water if needed, then apply.

    Application:
I put the henna into a squeeze bottle.
I apply to unwashed hair. I put on an old shirt, clip a towel over my shoulders. Put a plastic glove on one hand and go to town. I move front to back, parting hair and applying, then rubbing in, as I go. Once I have all of my roots covered I make sure the hair around my face is covered, too. Then I ball my hair up on my head and put on a disposable plastic shower cap. I leave it on at least 3 hours.

Meanwhile I have poured the unused henna back into the jar, put the lid on, and placed it into the freezer for next time. I keep adding more henna powder, lemon juice and water, as needed.

    Removal:
I then shampoo and condition as usual... but I shampoo 3 times instead of my regular 2.

But how long does it take to melt it? Do you need to get it warmed before use?
