    Default Rosemary shampoos, ingredients help

So, I want to switch to a shampoo and conditioner with Rosemary in it.
To help firm my roots and lessen hairloss/stimulate regrowth, and help scalp-issues (fatty flakes, itchiness)

I found 3 shampoo and conditioner sets.
Could you PLEASE help pick which one would be best ingredient-wise?
Do any of these have no-no's? They are all natural shampoos, no silicones, SLES, paraben and cruelty free.

If I remember correctly - scientific studies have actually shown that rosemary oil can help regrow hair and is a great alternative to products like Minoxidil. So I would go with the Faith in Nature one, as it's the one that has rosemary oil pretty high on the list. I can also recommend the HASK shampoo with tea tree and rosemary oil (I've used that and actually seen a difference in hair growth!) or the one from Pacifica.

    Yes, I've read that too!
My dermatologist who I'm seeing for alopecia androgenetica is against using Minoxidil/Rogain.
So I went on a search for other treatments that might help and found out about the rosemary studies!

I'll also make a lotion of rosemary oil and grapeseed oil for scalptreatment.
Discussing it with the dermatologist in 2 weeks.

I'll look up HASK and Pacifica, see if those are sold here (Netherlands) and are within my budget.

Have you seen this thread about essential oils for hair growth? Itís based on a study that showed improvement using a mix of oils including rosemary, cedar wood, lavender and thyme (from memory). If you look at Igorís recipe on the first page of the thread, itís the same quantities as used in the study.

Faith In Nature certainly do put a large amount of essential oils in their shampoos. I used their Rose shampoo and it burned my scalp on first (and only) use. I send it back and got a refund and it put me off using anything of theirs again.

I have used the scalp tonic mentioned in the thread above. Itís hard to say for sure whether it helped, but it certainly didnít do any harm.

I glanced at them, and here are some thoughts!
The petal fresh conditioner has amodimethicone (just fyi, since you mentioned silicone-free). If it was me, I would probably choose the Avalon rosemary shampoo since the others either have fragrance or sulfates. Unfortunately, my scalp doesnít seem to tolerate either very well. Iím not sure if it would be an irritant for you, too?
Panthenol (in a few of these options) has a tendency to leave my hair looking straighter than usual (which I kind of like). Lemon oils seem to have a brightening effect on my hair (which I donít like as much).

Rosemary smells fantastic! Very refreshing/therapeutic. Hope you find one that you enjoy that helps your scalp too, eresh.

    Thank you for the replies!

I'll check out that thread, thanks, hadn't seen it yet!

Hmmm Petal Fresh advertises as silicone free I think...I'll go check.
I don't mind sulfates, I've always used them (SLES), but if there's a milder one or none, I'll give it a try, it's no issue.

Back in the day, I used to have this rosemary shampoo by Avalon Organics. It is a brand that is sold typically in Holland & Barrett in Belgium. Don't know where you can get that in The Netherlands, probably the same store? But they used to do one; hang on I'll check to see if they still do it, and if I even remember this correctly. LOL!

    Yep!

Have you had a chance to smell them in person, eresh? That would probably be the determining factor for me! Iím tempted by the Avalon rosemary shampoo but Iím still finishing up a bottle of Giovanni 50:50 (using both for scalp and body wash). Actually, I think I know why Iíve avoided this one in the past. The ingredient lists around here are different and contain sodium coco sulfate. If it has changed to omit the sulfate, Iíd be interested to try at some point. I know you said the sulfates are not really a determining factor for you, but hereís another ingredient list:

Aloe barbadensis leaf juice1, water (aqua), sodium coco-sulfate, sodium laurylglucosides hydroxypropylsulfonate, decyl glucoside, cedrus atlantica bark oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, citrus limon (lemon) peel oil, copaifera officinalis (balsam copaiba) resin, coriandrum sativum (coriander) fruit oil, geranium maculatum oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, pogostemon cablin oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, calendula officinalis flower extract1, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract1, chenopodium quinoa seed1, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract1, styrax benzoin resin extract, tocopheryl acetate, babassu oil polyglyceryl-4 esters, bisabolol, citric acid, coco-glucoside, glyceryl oleate, inulin1, sodium chloride, sodium phytate, sodium sulfate, alcohol, benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, limonene, linalool.

I wonder if the one that you used was the sulfate version, lapushka. I remember your liking the stronger shampoos for scalp health (sd).

Yep all 3 brands are available here, that's where I got the ingredients from. Biggreensmile (love that shop) has them all, Kruidvat and H&B have Petal Fresh but often sold out.

Weird isn't it, the different ingredients, maybe they are in the process of renewing tbeir recipe?
Love Beauty and Planet did that too, old stock had sulfates, new ones did not.

I swear by Faith in Nature shampoos. I've been using them for years simply because I've found them excellent at clarifying my hair. I've used quite a few bottles of Faith in Nature Rosemary shampoo and intend buying it again (I'm currently addicted to their lemon and tea-tree shampoo.)

If you like a shampoo that removes every trace of ugh from your hair without causing build up then Faith in Nature is for you. However their conditioners aren't always very good at conditioning hair or at least they weren't good at conditioning my hair. The best one for me was the Lavender and Geranium conditioner. Like the shampoos the conditioners do not cause build up.
