My go to at home style is just my bonnet! And since I'm working from home, that's basically what I do all day every day lol.

Either two plaits (sleep, sickness), high bun (laziness), or loose (florid madness).

Some type of braid. I switch between a single Dutch braid, a single English braid, or 2 English braids

A bun very low at the nape, most often a nautilus. I like sleeping in English braids but feel like they get in the way a bit during the day, so if I'm at home but not in bed I'll usually bun the braids for convenience.

Down. It's the most comfortable style for my scalp.

I wear it down or a low loose pony when I'm just lounging at home.

Either I bun my sleeping braid or I just leave the braid in my sleep cap

Usually an English braid but the tassel gets in the way when I’m doing house chores or childcare (most days around the house are childcare etc.) so I’m searching for the best way to bun my braid. This may sound like a humblebrag but my braid is so thick that I have a hard time keeping it bunned with a stick or fork (though honestly only one of my forks is long enough for a braided bun but it’s a bit fancy for everyday use.) I’ve been thinking of getting a slide (?) and then just folding my braid up and fastening it to the back of my head? Someone’s sig pic is exactly what I mean, I haven’t ever owned the thing I’m trying to describe.

Basically I need a protective thing to do with a braid that is easy to remove with one hand (my non-dominant hand at that haha) since I lay down to nurse the baby a few times a day. I’ll take suggestions if you have them.

If I’m being truly lazy and there are no children about, my hair is down and I am probably playing with it.

I’ve been kind of idly thinking of getting a snood for days when my scalp needs a rest but I need to contain the beast. I’d probably need to fasten it to my head with bobby pins. Hmm.

Does one turn of a pinless braid bun hold for you? That tends to work pretty well for thicker hair, although you might have to wind it kind of tightly.
