Ah I really like the look of this bun, gave it a try but I need another 6 months of growth probably to have a hope in hell of it holding! Great photos everyone

Fascinating to hear you didn't feel secure with this bun - it's been one of the most stable stick-holding buns for me (my hair usually likes to casually drop sticks out (preferably when you're not noticing and then you never find them again ). I wore it all day yesterday and didn't have to redo it once!

Regarding photos - I like to take inspiration from Amaryllis and look in the mirror and take the photo from behind my head using the flipped camera on my phone (if that makes sense?) so I can see the framing reflected in the mirror.
Awww, thanks c: I haven't tried it again, but I'm sure it's just a matter of experimentation/practice to get it to where it feels secure.

I must caution that I am very new to smartphones! I think I understand what you're describing, but I'll have to do some poking around to see whether I/the particular phone I have can do that--and by "poking around," I mean asking one of my various tech-savvy baby cousins! The thing that really gets my goat about that photo is the giant blob on the right-hand side. I don't even understand what part of my bathroom would be making that shape--!

I did not keep them in. The top one was too tight and the bottom too loose and the stick kept bumping my neck. But I did it! lol
I think it'll look nice as a half up do.

Here’s mine - so easy and comfortable. I can see this being added to the regular roster for sure.

Sarah, amazing to see how “short” your hair was! Did you paint any of those beautiful landscapes behind you??

Apologies for how giant this pic probably is; when I upload from my phone it’s either massive or tiny with nothing in between.
I did paint them yes, thank you

I just tried this bun again and either my hair has become thicker or my thumb has shrunk so I can't hold the loop properly any more, so this is some kind of bun I ended up with

I have just enough length to do it, but not enough for it to stay in place. Bummer! Because it is a nice style and I really like it.

Flittingsis, the stacked-bun look is so cool! And what a beautiful hair color.

That was precisely my feeling the first time I tried it: not enough thumb to go around ; D

After trying a couple more times, I got it to stay! I guess I wasn't wrapping around my thumb tight enough at first. I worked a shift in this bun and it stayed securely through the entire thing.

I gave it a try today. It's easy, comfortable, and secure. It's not going to replace my favorites; the Lazy Wrap Bun and the Nautilus Bun but it's nice for a change and also good for long sticks.
