    Default October 2021: Braid Waves

What are your favorite braids for creating waves?

I did a comparison a few years back.
    English, Fishtail, and Rope

I can see the pictures when I go to them directly, but not in your post. Looks like directly is redirecting them to https, though.

Darn hair dressers and their misplaced bra straps... Looks like it'll be longer between hair cuts this time, with an extra 6 inches to regrow!

Thanks for letting me know! I copied the URLs from an old blog post and didn't pay any attention to where they were hosted.

Ooh, I'll need to try deliberate rope braid waves some time! When I rope braid, my hair tends to want to stay twisted when I take it down, but if I separate very carefully and not too much, I might be able to get wave-curls like that rather than frizz! (I just washed my hair and I'd try it right now while it's damp, but, while I have to go to the office tomorrow, it's for something I likely won't want my hair down for, so, maybe another time.)

I find I like to use a French braid (or two) if I'm actually trying for braid waves, so I get the wave all the way down my hair rather than having straight hair stuck flatly to my head and then the waves abruptly start at my neck. I've not tried making waves with anything but an English braid, though.

Here are some braid waves from a couple weeks ago; I had done my hair in a high ponytail then made the ponytail into four braids. This is what I got when I took it down.
Putting it in my signature because I have to say it so often:
Do what works for your hair, not what other people say is "right" or "wrong." If it works for you, it's not wrong. If it doesn't work for you, it's not right.

I love your rope braid waves!
I braided my hair upside down one night in a regular three strand braid and the results were my favourite so far, I'll try a rope upside down next time.

My favorite is rope braid waves, but I don't have a picture of any braid waves right now. I'll try to remember to get back with one.

Spidermom - I’d love to see them! My hair doesn’t really leave much more than a body wave from rope braids for some reason

I had my hair in a rope braid all morning to get a picture, but I started with dry hair, and I guess it wasn't in long enough to set a defined wave. I think it's pretty, though.
