Meanwhile I have a lot of hair forks from this shop.
They are all from copper/silver and the usable length is 5 inches for all.
Hi,
on Etsy I've found a great shop from Idaho called FolksOnTheEdge, where you can buy normal and sturdy hair forks with semi-precious stones in the topper. The link is just for hair jewelry, they also sell buckles, bolo ties and pendants. I bought this hair fork with an agate with red tones.
It has more than 5 Inches usable length and the gauge is 8.
... and I ordered some more because I can't have enough of this combo of copper and cabochon. If you are interested, I can give you pictures later and an experience report. Julie is very nice and she and her husband are looking and cutting some of their stones on their on in the Idaho mountains.
regards

Wow, these are gorgeous, Fornarina!
How pretty! Are they sturdy? I usually only use three or four prong forks.

Are the toppers heavy?

Thank you all for your nice feedback.
@Shorty89,
yes, they are very sturdy. When I asked for COs in this shop, I asked for 8 gauge wire and I got it. Now this is a standard size of 8 gauge and 5 inches length in this shop called heavy duty hair forks.
@Hedera,
the topper is as heavy as it is normal for this size. For it is all from the same material (exclusive the stone, of course) and the legs are not tapering, the weight of the hair fork is evenly balanced from top to bottom and the heavier the hair, the more hair toy weight it can carry. I have no problems with the toppers.
And I always insert the forks from the side, where I wrap to, to counterbalance the dissolving tendency of the bun - usually against the wrapping direction. So if you have any hair toy with heavy toppers, just insert it this way and the topper will just hold the bun in the right place instead of sinking to 6 o'clock.
regards
Fornarina
