Thread: Wooden Hairbrushes!

I bought a wooden comb because someone said it would break my hair less than plastic (nope). I bought a wood-pin brush for the same reason (plus it looked cool). Nope. (Then again, that's also why I bought a Wet Brush, and judging by the amount of hair in it after I use it... nope.) Okay, maybe I just have difficult hair... I'll be stuck finger-combing forever.
Putting it in my signature because I have to say it so often:
Do what works for your hair, not what other people say is "right" or "wrong." If it works for you, it's not wrong. If it doesn't work for you, it's not right.

I depends on the brand… I have a Bass wooden brush that’s pad golding the pins in is very stiff & makes the pins more rigid than I would like. I use this as my go-brush to just fixed tossled bangs or brush out the tassel of my braid. My TEK brush is mich more gentle and comfortable as the wooden pins have more give with the type of rubber pad holding them in. I use this one to brush through my entire head of hair easily, and the pins feel nice on the scalp as well. I use the same technique for any brush, section into 3-4 sections, start from the bottom of each section, and then combine all sections to smooth together.

That makes sense, I also divide my hair into sections while brushing. Thanks for the information!

It's been helpful to brush slightly slower with it and definitely start at the bottom as usually recommended. I altered the angle I hold it at so that more of the paddle is being utilized instead of more of the edge of the brush, if that makes sense. I *don't* find that it rips my hair out and mine's KL. The TT is my go to everyday/can handle anything brush and the wooden one is for dry hair only, scalp massage, sebum/oil distribution. It's a Bass Green Brush if that helps.
Thank you, I'll check them out.

I've been considering a TEK brush, specifically for distributing oils. Does the brush get gross with lots of different oils and hair serums? I'd probably still use my tangle teaser to detangle.

Well, just like with regular brushes, you will need to clean it once in a while.
But I wouldn't call it gross, no.

I also have a boar bristles brush and a horn comb. The horn comb work so great on my hair. It take more time to comb my hair tho, so I prefer the wooden brush.
