You've got a very good start!
Hi, everyone! I love reading through these forums. Here's a little bit about myself:
I always had BSL hair in high school, but started experimenting with dyes and it has been a tough (although infrequent) habit to break! My first hair dye was going a shade darker during lunchtime at my friend's aunt's house with Garnier Nutrisse. It made my hair soft and shiny and straighter and darker. And although I looked more like a movie-star, I did feel less myself without my unruly curls. Later, when I was 21, I shaved my head and went a year without coffee, documenting the regrowth. My hair stood up straight and wouldn't lay down until it was a good 2.5 inches long! Since then, I've dyed, bleached, grown-out, ACV'd, gone natural, trimmed, chopped, deep conditioned etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I finally had natural hair at BSL in 2019, but after the summer and a couple big life events, I went back to a bob. Then out came the box dye! Bright pink didn't suit, neither did going back to brown. It wasn't soft or shiny anymore. Over the course of a year, something happened to my sense of smell. All the fragrances around me seemed to linger. No, I wasn't pregnant. But my friend was. And she told me she didn't use soap or shampoo or anything to shower, just the occasional shampoo bar. And she hadn't for years. Here I was, having lost my way, and like a beacon I was lit up. So I gave it a try, water, only water. And thus, I find myself in the Long Hair Community, recommitted to my health and well-being and my connection to mother earth and the way she intended my hair to grow and grow and grow.
I'm below APL with about three inches of dyed ends. I trimmed a cm last week, and now I intend to grow it out. Cheers!
