Mailbox Emptied Itself

A few months ago, I was having a nice chat with someone through PMs, but now everything is gone - inbox, sent messages, all completely empty, and I can't even remember who I was talking to!

That is one I have not encountered before! We can't actually look in anyone else's mailbox though, so it'll be a tricky one to troubleshoot too. Is there any sort of message at all?

I was totally going, "better go check mine now", but it's fine, for a second I thought it might have something to do with the latest "black-out".

I'm not sure about your case, but recently I lost a bunch of messages. I'd accidentally selected all my sent items, went back to the inbox to delete one message, and... sent folder emptied. Did you happen to download the conversation in text form? If not, that may be a good practice going forward in case of mishaps / bugs

Nope, nothing! It's so weird, and I don't remember deleting anything! I do know one way to contact the person, since the reason I even looked was so I could say "hey, I finished reading your story," but it means I'll have to make an account on the other site, and still leaves me wondering what happened to my mailbox!
