Subscription Notifications stop?

I enabled email notification for a thread to which I have subscribed. It worked fine at first, but then became sporadic, like not ALL new posts triggered an email, and then stopped. And now it's continuing again.

I'd like to get email notifications even when I'm not using a computer which is logged into this site.

Is this a "known issue"?

I think sometimes some things may be up with the server that provides the mails? At least, I *seem* to remember something along those lines being said previously. But wait up on what the mods say, to be sure! It's just what I think I remember / think I heard.
