What is your favorite material for hairtoys to be made from?

I lost my bone hair sticks somewhere, but I really loved how smooth they glided through my hair. So I vited bone. Even though now all I use are the wood ones, because I can’t find the bone ones.

I have a couple silk scrunchies I like quite a bit too. But I don’t use them as much as the sticks.

I chose acrylic, because that's my go-to these days. I think wood is my favorite aesthetically, but as Neko said, only for dry hair. So if my hair is dry, I'm not going to be sweating, and I'm either staying inside or it's not raining out, I reach for wood.

Definitely whatever is as light as possible for my sensitive scalp, so wood or resin (voted for wood though because that's the usual).

I voted "Wood" but I like "Acryllic" the same way.

I voted Wood, but I love a lot of other materials as well; horn is one of my favourites (and seems to make a kind of intuitive sense)

I like most materials. I love the beauty of wood grains, colours and chatoyancy, and I love the variety of colours and patterns of acrylic. I do love natural wood but also dyed wood (especially dyed burl) but being waterproof is important sometimes so acrylic comes into its own there. The vast majority of my forks are wood, but my sticks are about half acrylic and half wood. I like the look of slim metal sticks and forks, and I have lots of flexi-8s, but metal sticks are too thin for me and I think I prefer untopped forks in my own hair so metal doesn't feature very prominently in my collection other than 3 forks, and the flexis because I have no choice about them being metal. (I also have a lot of glass and gemstone beads to make my own 8-clips.) I love the look of leather slide clips but don't own any.

So yeah, probably about 50/50 between acrylic and wood for me - most of my forks are wood but that's only because acrylic forks are a lot more expensive and less easily found than wooden ones.

All of the forks I reach for on a daily basis now are wood, so I can actually choose an option. My hair seems to prefer thinner tines such as MapleBurl (I am sad he can't sell on Etsy right now) and acrylic can't go very thin. Metal is heavier. So wood is my hair's preference, and has been for a couple of years now, realistically.

If I had to choose, I guess my favourite would be wood, but the shape of the stick is what matters the most.
