I'm growing mine out finally, I think its going to be a while before it'll be long enough to put up with the rest of my hair, probably 6-8 months I'm thinking. And it'll be years before I start maintaining to let it catch up.

It was always falling in my face until I could get it all back in a ponytail which was actually somewhat past SL for me. Cornrows would have contained it very well but I couldn't braid then and by the time I learned how it was really too long for the Snoop Dogg look

I'm not Into cornrows at all even if I had hair for it, I'm looking forward for a bit more length to start braiding though

That's awesome on a timeline though! I'm expecting mine to take closer to a year, figuring for the hair at the nape of my neck even. (I'm horrid at maths though. It was shaved December 15th). I want the shaved part to be at least APL, preferably BSL before i start trying to get the layers caught up

Well, assuming you have average growth (1/2 in per month) you should be able to get it into a low ponytail or bun anywhere between 3-5 inches, which falls between 6-10 months.

I do have average growth, I was just figuring for a medium high ponytail (where my undercut ends currently) but I hadn't thought of low ponytails! At two inches already I'll be there before I know it!

Yep, and as it gets longer, you'll be able to move your buns higher.
