Yep, something like that can be called a paranda too!
Something came to mind - some kind of brightly coloured ribbon or thread or something woven into Dutch braids maybe for an event like a festival. What was the name of this if you know? I know of parandas but I don't think this is a paranda. It's like some kind of fake hair extension or something.

"A green glass-tipped hairpin dropped onto her shoulder and then the floor. Drat. She had never been good at putting up her own hair." Provenance, Ann Leckie
If I'm imagining what you are, I would just call that "weaving a ribbon through a braid."
Putting it in my signature because I have to say it so often:
Do what works for your hair, not what other people say is "right" or "wrong." If it works for you, it's not wrong. If it doesn't work for you, it's not right.
If you are thinking specifically of a ribbon, check out the four-strand braid where the ribbon stays in the center, it is a really neat effect.
I have a beaded paranda, three strands of brown embroidery floss with beads tied on at irregular intervals.

Mod hat off. Mod hat on. Don't make me wear the mod hat, it messes up my hair. *grin*
