Here is a photo of my braids from today:

I'm thinking that perfecting my braiding will be an integral part of my hair technique. Especially for sleep and work! What do you think is it APL or BSL? Or does my hair need to be wet and unbraided to really tell?

The link doesn't work. But yes, it needs to be loose to see the length

Love the braids! I admired someone on my train yesterday with braids like that - so thick and shiny and healthy looking...nice!

Awe, so sweet, thank you! I am really interested in learning different braids to have fun options for my hair while it grows.

Here is a photo of my hair after brushing out my braids today. After looking at this I can see my hair seems to be more APL.

It's hard to tell with that T-shirt, but I do suspect that it's APL It's beautiful anyway!

It's hard to tell where BSL is with your shirt but I'm thinking APL plus so it shouldn't be long until you at BSL. Your hair looks very nice and shiny today so the baking soda and conditioner must have worked. Welcome to LHC!

    Welcome!

I just wanted to briefly mention that Dr. Bronners and baking soda are very alkaline, and so you may need a vinegar (ACV, apple cider vinegar, or regular will do too) rince after it (dilute the vinegar heavily though, it's on the site as to how to use it).

I would watch out with baking soda, though. Generally it's not recommended as it can rough up the hair quite a bit!

Welcome! You will definitely learn so many things here – and find a wonderfully supportive community. I second Lapushka on the DrB advice; it can be...a lot on the hair. I also agree that while it's easiest to identify body-markers for length when wearing something relatively form-fitting, I would guess you to be approximately APL. Happy growing!
