Default November 2020: Center Held Braided Bun (aka Pinless Braided Bun)

This style can be done with any kind of braid and a stick, fork, or barrette. Make your braid, insert the tool of your choice through the scalp hair where you want to center your bun, wrap the braid around and behind the tool, tuck in the ends. For extra stability, pin the ends and maybe the outer edges depending on your needs.

The Jamie Leigh is a specific variety of this bun done with a French braid.

This is personally my favorite way to use barrettes.

And for hair sticks that are decorated down the length.

I also use this for toys that are otherwise on the small side but I can't stand to part with. I didn't find any pictures of that in my WEO collection though.

Ohhhhh that is so lovely! And a great way to show more of decorated toys. I’ll definitely be trying it out this month.

Oh you guys. Get ready for way too many pics of my hair. If I'm not wearing a braided LWB, it's a pinless braided bun. Might just wear one every day for the rest of the month.

Aren't those pretty? Very nice way to highlight some less used hairtoys.

It's a lot of trouble for me to braid all the way down, but I do like to try each monthly style. Though in my case, this will have to be a pinful, not pinless, braided bun (1a hair).

Wow that looks so nice with the barette, neko_kawaii. French barettes always eat my hair though I love them, they are so pretty, but something always snags even when I'm careful somehow. I will definitely be trying this style with a hairstick though!

Amaryllis Red, I'd love to be able to see your hair photos. I've sent a friend request.

Thank you for starting this thread, neko_kawaii. I always enjoy the updo of the month.

This is actually the only way that I can use a big barrette in my hair. And my rather wimpy braided bun looks much, much bigger when I wrap it around a barrette.

I do a French braided version of this bun that's identical to the Jamie Leigh except that I insert the hair stick horizontally instead of vertically. I find that a French braid is always a good base for my updos.
