You could totally pass that off as a day-old braid.

On the real camera I have a new picture of this with one of my much-too-small forks. One of these days I'll transfer those files.

Ooh this is easy... a braided bun is my go-to. Although I usually grab more hair than just center held, like this or this. It's flatter and more stable for me that way.

    Here's my center held bun:

Thank you! The barrette came from a shell shop I’ve been going to since I was a little girl, so I feel all squishy and nostalgic when I wear it!

ETA: I’m crushing on all the lovely stick pictures! Definitely want to try that next.

Everyone's buns look amazing! I'll be waiting for a few more years before my hair is long enough for this style.

I guess my hair is too slippy slidey for this one. I've tried numerous times, but it won't hold without multiple pins supplementing the stick or fork, so that completely negates the "pinless" objective. I have no idea how people use barrettes for this.

    Very pretty, elise.autumn!

Spidermom, if I don't use a pair of sticks, I usually stick a pin in it somewhere. Otherwise, the end will eventually start falling out.

That said, here's mine today with just a fork. (It's kind of gross today and might actually stay put with no extra tools... it would quite possibly stand straight up on its own today if I asked it to.)

Now a knee length Mohawk would be something to see!

Looks great, Amaryllis, love the color of the fork with your hair.

That's why I took the liberty of renaming it. *wink*
