Hi! New ginger here
Hi there,
I found this forum several years ago and lurked a bit but never posted. I've been growing my hair for several years and it's a couple of inches below shoulder length. It's usually up in a messy bun although sometimes I enjoy braiding it or wearing it down after washing as it's naturally wavy after having been wet. I'm a redhead so my hair colour has always felt like a big part of my identity. When I was really young I was teased for it and disliked it but as an adult I've come to love it. I'm old enough now that the vibrancy of my natural colour has faded and has a few whites although it still looks red. I've been colouring my hair with professional colour (sometimes at the salon, sometimes myself) for a few years now to achieve a more vibrant red. My current avatar picture is a year old and now my hair is longer and that colour is similar to the colour on most of my hair but I have light roots (quarantine growth worth, lol). My hair is also quite fine and even thin so I'm considering using henna instead of regular colour as I understand it will make my hair healthier and maybe even thicker. I'm thinking of maybe one more visit to the hairdresser first though to get foils and avoid an obvious demarcation line between my roots and the rest of my hair when I start to henna. I'm also debating what kind/ mix of henna I would use. I want my hair as long and healthy as possible, so I'm here to learn and exchange tips and tricks. Thanks for having me!
~Em

Welcome. I do recommend reading up on henna (and indigo). If you are getting foils / bleach the combination of that with henna can be a little problematic (orange tones) and especially in combination with indigo (green hair). So do your research first, before doing anything to your hair before the henna!

Thank you all for the welcome and Lapushka for the advice.
I'm doing my henna research now, and will probably go straight to that and skip and highlights. Thanks for the warning. I do not want green hair!
