Conditioner seems to do a pretty good job of washing my lengths, and I've also started using just conditioner for some washes as a co-wash and for my lengths. The only time I use shampoo on my lengths is when I oil my hair for swimming and the conditioner isn't enough to get it out.

I only put shampoo on my roots, but I have short hair and it inevitably runs on the length.

I mainly apply shampoo to roots only. I do apply to the ends sometimes but only when I've done a heavy oil treatment such as olive oil, I find olive oil great for my hair but a nightmare to wash out

I apply shampoo to my roots only, but I then let the lather go down the length as I'm rinsing it out.
