I use marshmallow root as an addition to cassia. I cook it with other herbs and pour the liquid over the cassia. Once, I also used it under oil. It is a great humidifier.
You all inspired me to retry marshmallow. I cold steeped overnight and put the strained liquid in a spray bottle and sprayed my dry lengths and ends this morning because my hair has seemed kindof dry lately, before bunning. I think it helped re-hydrate it. I think I’ll keep trying for a few weeks. Variable: I put in a leave in anti-snap high protein with cones yesterday and did not use any post wash oil like I usually do.

Hello,
Mg hairdresser uses only Natural dyes and he likes to add marshmallow to henna/indigo mix. He says that it's Rich in mucilage, even a Little bit more than fenugreek. The overall effect looks great!
Exactly. Marshmallow produces mucilage. I don't know about you, but in my country there are candies for sore throats with marshmallow.
I've bought it in a health food store. They had packets of all sorts of spices and herbs, some usually used for cooking and some that are more typically medicinal herbs. I don't know if there's an equivalent kind of store around the world.
Sadly, my hair didn't like it. That's all right though because my taste buds do!
Wow!!! Didn't know about that !
Tomorrow I will try adding marshmallow root to an henna, amla and walnut husk mix.
I will start this evening by adding warm hibiscus and chamomile tea and I will let it get the right hydratation overnight.
I will keep you up-to-date with my experiment
Does anyone use marshmallow powder to make a detangling spray or other hair product? I'm about to buy some to add to henna. Maybe I should get a bit extra!
