    Default July 202: Rosestem Braid

This is an obscure one from an old list of styles and most of the pictures and tutorials have evaporated into the digital ether. Fortunately, it is easy to reconstruct from the description.

Two french rope braids forming one Rose Bun at nape.

For the bun, you can combine the two rope braids to form a single Hawser (in which case make sure the twists on the two initial rope braids are in the same direction so you can twist them together without untwisting one of them) and bun that, or you can bun the two braids in the manner of a Vortex Bun, alternately wrapping the braids alongside each other as the bun expands.

Alternatively, you can make two Rose Buns at nape with the two rope braids. That might fit better under your wide brimmed summer hat.

Mod hat off. Mod hat on. Don't make me wear the mod hat, it messes up my hair. *grin*

I wish Dreamweaver braiding was still an active site! I used it a lot when I first joined LHC.

Here is mine today. It's a very pretty, feminine style, I think. Perfect for all those summer gatherings none of us are going to. :/ Anyway, nothing wrong with looking pretty at home.
I bunned it like a vortex and secured it with spin pins.

It's such a pretty hairstyle, Amaryllis. . . but on top of that, those corkscrew curls at your nape are just adorable!

    Thank you!
I've always had them. They don't seem to grow long, which is fine with me because then they probably wouldn't curl up like that!

I had a dream that I managed to do this style, so I had to test. And it went well indeed, thanks to this link! It's the first time ever I have done rope braids. As far I have understood the theory, but practice on the other side... This was really idiot proof, thanks!

No pictures, because there's really nothing to see, I have so little hair and it compacts so much... But I'm really happy I'm finally able to do the rope braids, and they are sturdy too.

(I asked my DH what he liked about my new special braids, and he said: looks nice, so you have new hair ties. I was just what, they are my old brown boring hair ties, can't you really see a difference... Apparently not, I had to explain... But just now I like these more than ordinary braids.
I have heard the mermaids singing... and I do think that they will sing to me...

AmaryllisRed stunning! And I agree that the corkscrew curls at your nape are lovely!
