A large part of this forum is visible without even logging in, so I would think that regardless of connection security you shouldn't be posting sensitive information.

Indeed. But the not-logged-in visiblity doesn't expose people's passwords, as an unsecured connection does
When I go to http://forums.longhaircommunity.com, I get an immediate redirect to https://forums.longhaircommunity.com/content.php
I am not seeing the problem.

The board automatically redirects the page to use a secure connection.

Being redirected from http to https doesn't guarantee the secure connection gets established. Hence how I'm using the site unsecured
Firefox tells me the connection is secure. Something may be wrong with your browser.
