Hair Toy Trends?

Yes, Dymondwood used to be VERY popular.
I bought several sticks and forks, but some of the colours (esp greens and blues) turn into a muddy greyish colour.
(yes I have them stored in individual felt pouches, inside little boxes....and still they discoloured.
So I'm not buying Dymondwood anymore.

Some popular sellers were PapaDonh, Amadlife0, (anyone remember those 2??), Graydog, 60th street (they're still going strong)

And Ficcares were VERY popular, but in 2007 when I joined the Ficcare hype, they weren't as expensive as they are nowadays!!
I sold all my L maximas and kept my M maximas and L ficcarissimos.

Flexi-8 was always popular and still is :-)
Thought they changed into a new business model and name LillaRose.
I LOVE their low international shipping rates!!!

African butterfly thingies were popular a short time, they had a few different names, but it was basically the same toy.
2 combs with beaded elastics between them.
They never worked for me, pulling and such.
I sold mine.

Ravenscroft moons (did she make the first moons?), I never tried, I don't think I can work with moons, too clumbsy

Oh and Porcupine pins were popular a while.
I never wanted those, they are also forbidden here.
Seller always say they get them in an animalfriendly way, but there are horrible stories out there about this.
So better safe than sorry, NOPE for me!

Yes....from real Porcupines, unfortunately
They even sell them on Etsy, or directly from South Africa.
"Unfortunately for porcupines, their quills have become popular for use in the fashion industry and in décor items.
Some retailers may claim that quills sold have all been found after being naturally shed, but in fact animals are being killed specifically for the increasingly lucrative trade in quills."
I am glad it is forbidden to import them into Europe!

Hair can get tangled in the beads because it is elastic and has to be stretched over your bun/braid.
So be careful when you try one.
They do look pretty

Oh that's terrible about the porcupines.

If I do try the African butterfly clips I will definitely have to be careful! I've lost many a strand to older bobby pins and blingy flexis.

I'm still using my 2 prong aluminum or titanium hair forks, has hardly changed ever since I could wear a bun. Sometimes I do wear a flexi8 or Ficcare if the mood strikes me, or if there's a nice occasion to wear a nicer accessory.

It's great, looks OK, is comfortable; basically all I really care about.

They're so pretty, but I don't do my hair in any ways where I could use one (namely a French twist... my hair is way too long for that and I've never liked the asymmetrical look of a French twist anyway, though I think that would be hidden by the clip in this case).
