I do use it only on my roots and let the rest run down my length when I'm rinsing it off. I haven't tried using it on the length yet because it was already so dry and tangly to begin with so I was afraid it would become worse.
I know what you mean by the way, and I think I might not have explained the real issue properly (maybe because of language barrier, my bad). My hair was very soft and basically tangle free before, like let's say I didn't need to use a brush at all because just running my fingers through it would undo the lengths quite easily and I only ever used a brush to comb products through after I washed. The issue now is that it is tangled to the point it forms knots, and my fingers cannot run through my hair anymore because it gets stuck to the point I will *need* to brush it otherwise it's just a mess if that makes sense? And I think that is giving me a bit of breakage, because my hair keeps getting stuck in those really complicated tangles / knots, when before I never had that issue. I'm going to do a protein treatment again today and will report back.
A picture of a small "knot" (i have these all over my hair now, some bigger and some like this)
Do you think there's a reason why that happens? I never had that problem before and it's making me super annoyed because my hair is always getting stuck in itself and I'm no longer able to run my hands through it without getting stuck T_T.
