I forget about hats every summer. But henna makes my hair get away with it, it acts as a sunscreen
I think this is what I did this past summer when I actually remembered to wear hats.

    Hello all,

Do any of you condition your hair after every wash? Sometimes I don't. Right now, I am doing an experiment on my how my hair looks, feels, and behaves without using a heavy conditioner three times a week. Since, I only wash my hair three times a week. Now mind you, on those three days of washing I do use a light conditioner, and after showering I'll apply a detangler and a leave-in conditioner for blow drying. I've done that today, and my hair came out looking and feeling very happy!!!! So, I think I'm going to only use a heavier conditioner on my hair once a week. Or, whenever I feel there is a need for it. Because, I've noticed with the moisture overload or over-conditioning from the mid-shaft of my hair on down to the ends were always frizzy, and I have just learned that over-conditioning can cause that, and today after doing my hair with just using only shampoo and a light conditioner I have less frizz! What do you guys think?

I'm currently experimenting with something similar to try and get my scalp to itch less. If it works I'll make a thread about it, but more testing is required. Liking the results so far though!

Ok, cool! Yes, I've also noticed today that my scalp itched less after first day of hair wash. Ok, yes if it does work please make a thread about it. Oh yeah, I bet testing is required. I'm glad you are liking the results so far! I am also liking the results of my hair on second day without hair being washed, and it is less frizzy...and much shinier. I will just condition whenever I feel there is a need to!

If it works, it works! I personally need a heavy-ish conditioner with every wash at the moment, but that is due to damage in my lengths. My natural hair seems like it doesn’t need nor prefer that, so I will probably be experimenting with the same as you in the future. In my opinion, the less maintenance your hair requires, the better, so enjoy it!

Yes, that's right! It works, it works! I remember when I was younger my hair required a heavy-ish conditioner but it seems that since I'm a lot older now it doesn't require it as much. Aww, I'm so sorry that yours requires it after every wash at the moment because of the damage in your lengths. I bet your natural hair does seems like it doesn't need nor prefer that. Yeah, you just experiment with the same as me in the future. I totally agree with you on that note! The less maintenance your hair requires, the better, so yes I am going to enjoy it! I have also decided too that I am only going to use conditioner on my hair once a week. Or, whenever I feel there is a need for it!

I find it interesting that you notice this, because for me, my scalp seems to itch only when I don't condition. I suppose the excessive dryness after shampooing is what causes this for me, but I'm really glad you found something that works well for you.

Yes, this is the first time for where I would just use only shampoo, and a light conditioner instead of a heavier conditioner. Hmm, I find that interesting that when you don't condition your scalp itches. I guess it's because of the dryness of the scalp and after shampooing too. Yes, I am also very glad I have found something that works for me too. But as soon as my hair starts to look and feel dry I will have to adjust my routine again, and go right back to using a heavier conditioner.

Do we have any thread about cowlicks?
This back part cowlick is bothering the crap out of me. Most information out there about how to get rid of them is about blow drying... and I never do it, my hair dries naturally.
    Any ideas?

You could try wet-setting the cowlick instead. Make your part in the direction you want it while wet (use the end of a rattail comb for this) then clip your hair with barrettes or bobby pins in the direction your want it to lay while it's drying. You could add just a touch of mousse/gel to aid in this process. Then you just have to keep doing this every time you wash your hair until the fibres learn how to lie in that direction naturally.
