    Default Covid-19/lockdown and henna

Does anyone have a handle on what’s happening regarding availability of henna. The woman I get my Jamila from on eBay tells me exports are drying up. Henna she bought while over there is stuck on the Indian sub continent. I’m wondering if there will even be a harvest this year - which is terrible news for the farmers if true. Sellers here in the UK seem to have fewer stocks now - though I’ve only looked on eBay so far.

Oh, I have no idea! I hope there will be an opportunity for a harvest, under safe conditions of course. My source for henna still has stock so in a worst case scenario you could buy from Sweden!

Thanks for the heads up on that Isilme. I’ve bought ten boxes of Jamila 2019 crop, which I hope will keep me going doing roots only, after that, who knows? I notice quite a few online henna sellers are no longer selling during the pandemic. I echo what you say about the harvest. I think the problem might be that they have the henna sitting around because they can’t ship it.

My Amazon source sold out, so I ordered a few bags from a different Amazon store. Just got a notification yesterday my original amazon source restocked...but the price was 33% higher!

Where did you get the 2019 crop of jamila? All I could find on amazon was 2018. I ended up ordering from the henna guys, hopefully its just as good.

Thanks, I'll look into it if I don't like the kind I'm getting now.

I don’t think we have the Henna Guys here, but I’ve looked at their site, and from what I can see they sell baq henna relabelled, plus henna/herbal mixes for colour variations (like henna/cassia, henna/indigo etc) so I would think the quality would be fine. I would order a few anyway to keep you going, as I doubt if this year’s crop will ship because of the pandemic. Btw, I would think you would be ok with 2018 crop anyway if you freeze it - it will last years in the freezer in an airtight container
