I remember once doing a 4 or 5 strand braid on a classmate in highschool. She had rather thick armpit length hair so the end result looked more like a basket than a braid

The most I've managed was a 4 strand. Even though my hair is somewhere around bsl it feels too short to achieve even a 4 strand braid that looks like anything. This is the longest my hair has been in my adult life but it never feels long enough! I guess maybe that's a common theme here?

Definitely! I'm at mid thigh and it's still not long enough

Yeah... I can't do more than 3. Oh well, and a side braid is my favorite!

I did a quick sideways french six? strand braid on a family member yesterday. I started it like a basket braid adding sections as I went. The number of strands changed as I went along so I'm not entirely certain it is a six strand. Trying to count strands ex post facto is not my strong suit.

I can do three. I think I tried a four or five strand one once. I was able to achieve a decent result, but I don't have it fully down yet.
