    If the strands are braided but you are managing all of them at the same time to, lets say six-strand braid, that definitely counts, and is probably a good way to learn the hand movements without dealing with the hairs escaping and loosing the sectioned strands.

    It's a lot easier to take a break or go back and redo a section if necessary, if your use braided sections

    All these braids are so impressive! The most I've attempted is a four strand braid, and I don't think my hair is long enough yet to reasonably do any more than that. This thread is definitely giving me ideas for the future, though!

    I can do 4-5 on myself, but I think I could probably manage more on another person!

    I tried a six strand braid the other day and was fine until I had to switch it to over my shoulder. Then, I lost track of the strands.

    Is there a skill requirement? I've done a 5-strand Dutch braid on myself a few times, but the results were not very even or symmetric
