Default Hair "home" maintenance during isolation!

This is especially for those of us who still went to a salon to have our hair cut and colored.

How are you going to do things? Manage these things from now on?

It looks like quarantine might be even longer for some of us, and so give your tips, tricks as to how to manage your own hair, here in this very thread!

I thought then it would be nice and organized!

    I'll start by mentioning Feye's self-trimming method:
    https://feyeselftrim.livejournal.com/

Brad Mondo's video on how to self trim (shorter) hair, with nice subtle layers --> those layers are awesome, if not for the rest watch it for that!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAmE16ej9IU

Heavier layers, the compact cut methods:

Any advice on color? Throw it in here!

My mom will be cutting & home coloring & setting her hair with curlers next week, I think. But it's nothing out of the ordinary as she has always done it herself. Plenty of hair color still in her stash. So it's not that much of an issue. Just a case of jumping in and... finally doing it. So then it will be nice for Easter.

Brad Mondo also has a video about fringes and how to cut one yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0qjkPboQXY, very useful for people with a fringe that have to trim it! Because of him I can see again <3

Luckily, I'm no longer in the habit of doing regular salon visits! Haven't been for over a year now. I think I'd be somewhat panicking if I was still wanting to maintain the platinum blonde hair. I honestly don't know if I'd attempt to do it myself (or have my mom do it) or if I'd decide to grow out my virgin hair out of necessity, but either way, I wouldn't have been happy.

This one is also very useful, for wispy bangs! Brad Mondo even featured this video of her. She does a *great* job, with a couple face-framing bits!

If it goes on too much longer, I might try a henna gloss instead of my usual henna/cassia mix. My roots are bugging me a bit even though they aren't that bad yet. I think it's because they show more on dirty hair. I already trim my hair and bangs so no change there except I butchered my bangs this time (first time in ages I've messed them up). I think the main challenge for me is to not experiment too much or too often.

This is an example of one method of the compact cut technique for layers, ponytail on forehead. She calls it the "unicorn" method.

Here's a playlist of heat free curls if anyone's looking to test out curls during quarantine.

I had my roots bleached a couple of weeks ago, so I'm good for another four months. I'm wanting a trim, though, and my barber shop is closed for the duration

Well you could either grow it out some, see if you like it, or try a self-trimming technique. Your hair is definitely long enough to do it.

Oh and let's not forget spidermom's method!

My hair is loving this quarantine stuff (even though I’m not.) I live in NY, I’m a swim instructor, and the way things are going I’m probably going to be out of work until June. My hair is so much softer and more manageable, not being dried out from chlorine and constant shampooing. My skin is much softer too.
I don’t color my hair, and I cut my own hair since I don’t trust hairdressers, so I guess that part doesn’t affect me much.
