Default Healthy black dye that works on gray hair?

My mom is sick of two step henna and indigo. She tries to shorten it to one step henndigo but it won't cover her grays... She doesn't want to go renegray, I encouraged her but I don't want to force her.

So yeah, she needs one step dye, herbal or non-damaging (does Manic Panic have black?). Something quick to use, fuss-free. Generally we both like low maintenance, it seems...

Any tips would help, she's so depressed over this

Directions has a black dye that I have not tried yet, but I heard it works really well. https://www.haircrazy.com/shop/hair-...ections/ebony/Just watch out because directions does stain. http://directionshaircolour.co.uk
Also I’m so sorry to hear she’s depressed from this ... have you tried to convince her it’s just hair? I know that sounds awful of me to say.. but I wouldn’t stress so much over it. If all else fails why not just go to a salon and have a stylist do it for her?

Do deposit-only dyes cover gray hair, though? That's the question. Gray is tough to color.

Maybe a regular semi or demi might work better? For instance from a beauty supply store. Should be easy enough!

Very true, I didn’t think about that.

I still don't know the differences between dyes, the one I used to be less gray said semi-permanent on it but colloquially here people call them 'rinses'. I am very grey around the temples and it certainly blended it to black, but I would have to do it every week

I'm sorry if this isn't helpful. 2.5 years on LHC and I still don't know much lol

I would say a good black dye by Clairol Nice N Easy is good. I used to use it all of the time when I was dyeing my hair black, and it didn't damage my hair at all. It also covers those grays too...very well. It's permanent hair dye, and it lasts up to 8 weeks. You can buy this whole kit at your local grocery store, and in the kit you get the 20 volume developer, and the black color, and the colorseal conditioning gloss conditioner. I love that colorseal gloss conditioner! My mom also loves it too! She also always dyes her hair black with the Nice N Easy hair dye too, and she never suffers any hair damage or breakage. So, I think if your mom tries it she's gonna love it!

Elumen. It's a one step deposit only dye, and it usually had really great staying power. In that, it's marketed as permanent.

I'd like to recommend WellnessMama's herbal DIY (Do-It-Yourself) dyes: https://wellnessmama.com/5112/natura...-color-recipes

Not as far as I know. If you Google Elumen and ppd on the first page of results (before you have to hit next) is a review by a lady allergic to PPD
