Default New! How often should I get trims?

How often should I get trims? My ends are healthy, thick, no splits as I got my split ends cut about ~3 weeks ago. My ends aren't fried or anything I just put some coconut and EV olive oil on them every day so they dont try out. I want to grow out my hair but I dont want to cut it and I don't want split ends, what should I do?

Welcome! Trim when you get damage or when you want to "shape" your hemline. How often that is, is individual I trim 0,5-2 cm twice a year, while others goes years without needing to trim at all. I also S&D in between trims. So just "sit back" and see what happens

You can always join a "no trim challenge", like "no trimming 2020 first half only", if you want to

Then you're starting from a very good foothold! My method is to keep an eye on my ends and trim when I can't stand them anymore ( ; I am both prone to split ends and prefer an even hemline, but even with that find that I only have to trim maybe three times in two years. I don't do much trimming of individual split ends, but that's also a possibility as TatsuOni mentions.

It also becomes much easier to self-trim once your hair gets longer.
