    Default Newbie Intro

Hello everyone! Somewhat lurker finally joining, lol.

My hair is a little past my bra strap and I've usually kept it fairly long. Its naturally red, but I have noticed it slowly getting blonder over the years. I tried box color once in college and it refused to take to my hair, so that was probably a blessing in disguise. However I do want to learn more about henna to see if its a good option for me.

Also my hair is super straight and baby fine. So trying to style it has always been a nightmare, lol. So I do want to find products and styles that would help with that as well.

I'm excited about taking this new step into my hair journey and any help is appreciated!

    Welcome to the forum!
You just need patience because this forum is full of great info on henna and nice recipes :-)
I do henna my hair every 3-4 weeks.
Since I am a brunette, I mix my henna with indigo.
I used to do a mix of grapefruit juice + henna. The consistency should be close to pancake batter.
I would let the henna release its dye for about 6 hours.
Then apply it on my hair, wrap it in plastic, add a nice fluffy hat on top than wait for at least 3-4 hours.
Sometimes I would even sleep like that.
Nowadays I just mix henna in very hot water, leave it for 30 mins to release dye.
Than add the indigo mix just before applying it to my hair.
Make sure whatever recipe you use your hair is clean.
    Happy henna-ing and happy growing!

Thank you for the advice! Usually my clean hair is very fly away, so I tend to wait for second day hair to do anything with it. So when I take the plunge with henna I'll do it with squeaky clean hair!

And as for the growing I've been taking a gummy vitamin for hair, skin, and nails and I think its been helping. I know that my nails have definitely flaked less, so hopefully my hair has benefited too!
