Default New here! Can you help this girl out?

    Hey Guys,

I am a new member of the community and I am just loving it!

My hair is about 61 cm right now, but ofcourse I want to grow it more. I actually have this length for about 1,5 years now, but it won’t grow any further. Is it possible that this is the maximum length I can get or do you guys have some tips to grow it?
i recently started with oil-treatments to see if that helps and I quit using shampoo with sulfates, siliconen, etc.
Did any of you have the same problem?

    Looking forward to your tips!

p.s. I’m from The Netherlands so I’m sorry if my English isn’t correct 😁

Welcome to the forum. There is what we call Terminal length where the hair just won't grow any more. I have never been there been there but if you are taking good care of hair and wearing protective styles then you are doing all that can be done. 61 cm is rather short for a terminal length though. Just enjoy your current length and stay away from the scissors

I neef to day that I wash my hair every day and after that blowdry it. I quit using the blowdrier for a week now and i’m trying to push the washings although that’s not so easy because I just hate greasy looping hair

A blow dryer is not the enemy. If you use a cool/warm temperature it's fine. If you can hold your hand in the airstream without it burning, the temperature is good for the hair too.

And stretching the washing is also not a must; if you can't stretch, don't worry about it.

That in itself is not going to make your hair grow.

How often are you getting it trimmed? Are you still doing that? Going to the hairdresser?

Oh and BTW, welcome to the forum, from neighboring Belgium.
Your English is just fine, I can understand you perfectly!

Haha well thank you! I’ve got my last haircut about 2 months ago. Normally i would go like once every 3-4 months to trim the tips off. But as i’m reading on the forum i don’t think i should do that haha.

Don't trim until you can't stand your split ends anymore! Some trim every 3 months around the solstices, some do "microtrimming" some only do "search and destroy" (S&D)

Most will advocate staying away from heat, but like lapuschka said, "warm" and "hot" are two different things!

Put your hair up in "protective styles" as wearing your hair down or wearing it up in e.g. ponytails, regular messy buns etc. can be damaging in the long run

SLS can be damaging, so some people use "sulfate-free", some use SLS but "stretch washes", some do "CO-washing", some use herbs (see the subforum for herbal haircare!), some do "scalp washes"

Brush gently and from bottom to the top! Some use BBB (boar bristle brushes), some use wide tooth combs, some use tangle teezers... some only finger comb!

That's a start, search the forum for whatever sounds interesting to you long hair care is a whole new scientific discipline! It's a lot!!

Welcome to the forum! You might be trimming off all your growth, so you may need to get trims less often. Siv has given you excellent advice! Happy growing to you

Yes if you go every 2 months, for example, and the hairdresser is cautious and "only" takes one inch off, there goes all your growth!
