Indigo without the henna step will give you a washed out green/blue/gray, it just can't grab onto hair well on its own.

When we say that indigo is messy. We mean it!

But it's still worth it for me

Now does my roots and hair match each other again

And yes it’s a mess bwahahaha!! I don’t know if runny henna or crumbly indigo is worse

Thank you! I don't think that we should try to choose there

I took the plunge and finally tried indigo to try to cover some bad bleaching from a commercial hair dye (intended to dye my hair dark).

First step, henna. I used Nupur henna mixed with black tea (Lipton Yellow Label if you want to know!). Mixed henna paste 8 hours before application. Left on overnight under a shower cap and microfiber hair wrap.

    12/5/20.

Second step, indigo. I applied the indigo approximately 6 hours after rinsing out the henna and letting my hair air-dry. I used The Henna Guys indigo mixed with Lipton Yellow Label. Applied right away. Left on for three hours under a shower cap and microfiber hair wrap.

Looks great! I love Nupur, it provides such a rich base for the indigo to latch onto.

Thanks C_Bookworm and TatsuOni. All the pictures on this thread inspired me to go for it. I just hope the color is there to stay!

Oh WOW! I love your softened black here. I am a hendigo user but have never done a two step. I always do a stagered one step or lately have been doing Light Mountain's Dark Chocolate because I'm lazy. But WOW I love your color here!
