My super-fine hair will only really grow if I henna, but I'm very fair and cool toned, so the warmth of henna doesn't look great on me. So I typically do a two-step henna/indigo.

However, I have a 9-month-old, and the two-step method is time consuming. I've been considering trying the one-step method as it seems faster.

I'm fine with the result being a dark brown rather than black. I just don't want it to fade to red in two weeks. Anyone have experience with one-step hendigo and have an idea about what color it tends to fade to?

My natural color is chestnut brown, and I've been hennaing for years and just started using indigo in the last year.
Without amla in the mix (should be a third of the henna amount, so 33g amla to 100g henna), it'll fade warm. I would suggested what I call the staggered-step method over the one step because by the time henna dye releases, the indigo is pretty much toast.

Sorry if this has already been aswered but I have no power to read all through... So I only can find a mixture of henna and indigo, but the name indigo is at inci list first so probably there's more indigo than henna in the hair dye. I will prepare this like indigo, not like henna. But if I let this hairdye stay on my hair overnight, does it make my hair all black? Does time matter with indigo? I'm just afraid of very weak dye result.

IME the indigo just kind of stops dyeing after a period of time. I don't *think* you'll get black because of that, and since it's one-step, but...I'm not sure I'd risk it, given the sometimes weird results people get from mixes. What brand are you using? Honestly, if it were me, I'd just buy them separately (Amazon?), let the henna dye release, mix up the indigo, blend the two, and leave it on for 2-3 hours.

And if you can't find separate henna and indigo anywhere, just leave the blend on for 2, 3, 4-ish hours.

I wouldn't risk it honestly since you already have henna in your hair it will go black

Ok I anyway made the overnight hairdye because I remembered I've done it before with pure indigo and I know this mixture is not as strong as that but really only gives brown hair. Here come some pictures:

First inside my home the result looked really dark and all redness seemed to be far away, but outside it looks it's difficult to see any difference. I'll put before pictures to another post. But really 100g of this hairdye was not enough to cover all my hair. On top I have the real hairdye result, part of my lengths and ends were left without hairdye.

Here some before pictures, maybe a little bit brighter sunlight. Lightning really makes so much with natural hairdyes (and maybe all hairdye), but I guess it was more orange before:

In summer my hair just seemed to look so orange in many pictures, and that colour is just too light for me, because my hair was naturally dark before grays. I need more dramatic colour.

And one more from today, from shadow:

When I'm inside this is definitely darker than before (I side):

    Priska,
Thank you for all those lovely photos of your hair, it is so interesting to see the differences in colour under different lighting.
Your new colour looks excellent, hair is naturally darker at the roots, and it looks so beautiful with the trees and autumn leaves. Well done!
