Thread: What do you oil with?

    Recently ...coconut oil for ROO.

I also have some rose oil blends from Vitacost that I occasionally add a bit of to damp ends post shampoo, and use on damp skin post shower.

Because my hair is so fine and wispy I always feared oils would be too heavy and greasy, but my hair really loves oil based products (even better than a single application of an oil).

    These are awesome

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

Matrix Oil Wonders (Rose) pre-poo oil, shampoo, and conditioner

Ors Olive oil Moisture Restore Shampoo

Ors Olive Oil Strength and Nourish Conditioner with Orange Oil

    Biosilk Coconut oil Shampoo/Conditioner/Leave In

Oiling with Garnier Fructis Sleek&Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment has left me highly satisfied. It contains argan kernel and sunflower seed oils blended with two silicones (1041650 FS6 Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol), natural preservatives and a barely perceptible fragrance (mine really just smells like argan oil). Though I've eschewed synthetics and non-certified organic products for quite a while, I am really happy with the way that my hair and scalp respond to this product.

I like baby oil (so mineral oil) a lot lately! I use it for ROO and I use a few drops after washing on wet hair. It is light and moisturizing en doesn't make my hair crunchy like coconut oil does. (But I like the last one as a hairmask before washing).

I mostly use oil as a pre wash treatment these days, and my top three are Vatika coconut oil, regular fractionated coconut oil, and sunflower oil.

If I do ROO I use mineral oil based amla oil. If I'm going to do an oil leave in that's my go-to also.

I also keep almond and argan oil on hand, as well as the rose hair elixir oil blend from the innate life.

I used to apply coconut oil an hour or two before a shower and then use my shampoo and conditioner. It did wonderful things for the texture of my hair. But then I started using bar shampoo and a vinegar rinse and the coconut oil was no longer necessary - it's an ingredient in my shampoo bar. Now I work a little argan oil into my hair after washing, when it's still damp. It absorbs really well and keeps it from getting frizzy. (I also use a little under my moisturizer every day.) I'm curious to try sweet almond oil, but I think that's mostly because it sounds so nice.

I tried sesame oil once, but it just sat on my hair and gave me a craving for eggrolls .

Olive oil. I tried mineral oil but it made my ends crispy.

Ohh does the rose elixir smell phenomenal, zesty?

Nineteenbirds, your sesame oil experience makes me smile.....

I personally like camellia seed oil. It's super light and doesn't make my hair look oily at all. It just adds a nice sheen. It's also an oil that I can use in between washes and does not seem to be comedogenic.

I use coconut as pre-poo and also for my ends, but they do make them a bit crunchy... so did grape seed oil and pumpkinseed oil (majorly!). Linseed, castor, mineral, and jojoba oils just coated my hair.

I'm undecided on almond, olive, sunflower, and canola/rapeseed. They work okay, I guess. The olive smell makes me think of dressing, though, and all four sort of coat my hair a bit too much, but also sink in a bit. I dunno.
