Default How long will my henna gloss last

I think the color and strength are permanent, but the conditioning to the exterior of the hair shaft is not. Do I have this right?

PS. I'll post pics when I figure out the album system

That's what I've heard, too, but for me personally, henna seems to be less permanent than most. Henna glosses on me will color permanently, but the color will fade significantly. The conditioning lasts about as long as a protein treatment does for me.

I believe the pigment in henna (lawsone) is what lends the hair shaft strength. Any conditioning will come from the other ingredients you add (like coconut milk).

A henna gloss is typically not prepared in such a way or left on the hair long enough to penetrate fully.

That being said, how long your gloss lasts will depend on what you mixed in with the henna, how long you let it sit for dye release, and how long you left it on your hair after applying...and your personal hair traits, like porosity and natural color.

(Nightshade, of course, is our henna oracle, so listen to her over me! )

Despite what anyone else says about how it fades on them, if you're a newbie to henna, treat henna color as permanent. You can't and won't know how the color behaves on your hair until you've used it for a few times. Based on my own experience, and the vast numbers of upset people posting about how henna won't come out of their hair, I'd say that for a majority of people, henna is permanent and won't be going anywhere once it's in your hair.

If you want henna-like conditioning without commitment to the color, give sedr a shot.

I agree, always treat henna as permanent. I did a gloss on ash blond, the color was a very subtle golden but it stayed forever with zero fading.

Even glosses are permanent! You will be surprised once you say, I have had enough and want it all out! Hope that day never comes for you.
