You can't really compare them yet if one is oxidized and the other is not...

Aye, give it another three days then compare them again Oxidization makes a big difference!

Thank you both you guys! I'm going to give it a few days and see how it goes but I do think that ultimately I will go ahead with it (I've been wanting to henna for over a year but I waited to fully consider it). I'll post pics of it here once it's done and also pics of my natural colour and the henna result on the "base colour and henna results" forum so that others who are thinking of hennaing can see how it turns out on light brown hair. Thank you so much again for all your advice, have a great weekend!

    Hello,
I've only had the henna head for just over a month but, I used a henna shampoo AND John Frieda red based conditioner and it seemed to darken up in a couple weeks. After reading this thread and some others I decided to use my 'old' John Frieda blonde and lightening condition. I used it ONCE and wow, what a difference!? Maybe it neutralized the color depositing John Freida red conditioner, I'm not sure, but, it looks lighter and gives me some hope to continue on with root touch ups from here on out.
I'm a week past my self given touch up date due to work schedules.

p.s. when I wash again with the Blonde and highlight conditioner, I'll post a picture to my profile. edit to say, (my new profile picture was taken after the 'blonde shampoo' this one was after the previous red shampoo and conditioner and much darker looking https://jenniferblockerphoto.zenfoli...2C91#hd08c2c91 )

I would expect the oxidized henna to be more brown than un-oxidized, not more red. At least, that's how it's been in my own experience and every other one I've heard of it-- whether it's someone relieved the orange went away when it oxidized, or sad (I fall into the latter camp... I'd love the Florence Welch red too but my starting color is too dark ).

    Hello,
I washed and conditioned a second time. I'm still not sure how to post pictures but will put links to my cellphone shots here. Yesterday at work two people who I never met before made it a point to come and tell me they thought my hair was a beautiful color and said, "its natural right?" Each one was really surprised to hear it was henna. One said, "I saw you standing under the light and it just looked so beautiful." Henna really does amazing things under lights. I told the one lady, who was interested to try it, to email me and I plan to share this forum community with her, (her hair is long too.)

These pictures today are taken indoors with no lights on or direct light hitting it, these are also morning bed head with no brushing. I'm a mousey blonde and gray naturally and didn't do a great job at my henna application, (in the end of May.) However, I'm happy with the John Frieda blonde shampoo helping to diminish the red deposits that the John Frieda red conditioner left on.

Does the John Frieda shampoo really lighten? I could get behind that. The "blond hair" shampoos/conditioners I know of are the purple ones... a coworker gave me one, until I read that it's supposed to bring out cool tones in the hair, and I'm using henna partly to *eliminate* cool ashy tones in my hair! But I would be happy to lighten my hair a bit so the red comes out more.

Hi, you can find a review for them on Amazon under:
    John-Frieda-Blonder-Lightening-Conditioner

Here is a copy of one review: I’ve been using the shampoo for years.I absolutely love it. I’ve never had any issues By using John Freida go blonder shampoo and conditioner along with the John Freida lightning spray for blondes I saved thousands dollars over the years AND everybody thinks I go get my hair colored by a professional.
    end paste

p.s. I don't think I can post links here as the terms of service don't allow
