Default New and surviving a chemical cut

    Hi everyone!

I was lurking around googling hair tips and found this forum. All the ladies here seem so sweet and amazing that I had to join!

My hair was possibly past WL at the point before I decided I wanted crazy colors (early 2015?). My hair is what I call naturally crazy wavy that when healthy will curl nicely.

All the coloring was done correctly and safely. Then I went pink for a month (night before a major surgery - smart right?). After that I decided I wanted to blonde again. So I began a journey of blonde over a year and it was slowly and carefully done. I knew I would sacrifice some length but I was ok with that because my hair was so healthy that it would just keep growing.

Fast forward to a year and a half ago -
(Moved from FL and lost my awesome hairdresser) Then I met a hairdresser in MD who didn’t seem to understand how bleach works. She’s lucky I’m not prone to violence. UGH. I’m still paying the price with growing out a chemical cut.

I had a lot of breakage underneath and I think in the last year I’ve had a lot of great growth. However, my hair does look a little odd. It’s longer in the front but not that classic sharp Vidal Sassoon look. I think right now I’m half APL in the back and the front part that’s longer is BSL.

I’ve found a good hairdresser where I’m at now. I still have blonde ambition (yep I’m probably crazy), and I want my length back. Since he’s aware of all of this and has seen pictures of what my hair was at it’s longest, he’s been extra careful with my hair. He didn’t want to even put my hair because he said with my wavy crazy hair - it would just shrink up and I’d cry. (He’s right).

I’m kind of hoping that there’s some other ladies here that are working on growing but still color treat or bleach. (Looking for some hope haha). But overall, I love what I’ve seen while lurking here, there are so many sweet and uplifting ladies here.

There should be at least a few people around here who bleach. You might check out this thread:

When I had my chemical cut & burn (burn on the scalp), I called it quits with the dye and bleach. For me that was the end and I grew it out all virgin since then. I could not be happier.

    But you do you.
