tinypic.com has not updated their web server to be in compliance with https (s for secure) which in the first case causes many current browsers to reject it as insecure and in on LHC in specific causes the URLs for embedding to be invalid. If you want to embed pictures on LHC we suggest using a different photo host. Most of the other major ones work just fine, but we know tinypic is not in compliance and won't embed.

    Hi neko_kawaii,

At which point I threw my hands in the air and stuck with the solution that works for the majority of cases and resolves older pictures no one will think to go change manually.
All my images, which are hosted at picturetrail.com, were broken on LHC until I edited the BB code in a few tonight.

I just found out today from EdG that this problem exists; he stated that it's due to http vs https. However, you stated that the substitution of "https"has already been made, and when I go back to look at my old posts, the photo links are https. However, I noticed that the BB code, which ought to be [IMG]url[/IMG] is instead [img]url[/IMG]. When I fixed this the photos load just fine, even ones from 2010!

Check out the posts at this meet thread. I fixed the first few of mine and didn't fix the rest.

I wonder if you could look at this. Would across-the-board replacement of [img] with [IMG] (if such a thing is possible) make a difference? What's even weirder is that I was able to make the former work on this post when I was testing things, but I've also had it not work on new posts. I'm not sure what is going on with the site!

    Thanks,
    Bill

That is very strange, Bill. There should not be an issue for modern browsers understanding html or bb code when presented in lowercase. I may have some time to check this out later today. Keep in mind, that we have also noticed an odd gremlin where images don’t embed when first posted, but if someone edits the post, makes no changes, and saves the post the images will magically appear. You might double check that.

I took a look at the posts in that thread with missing pictures and I tried the "open to edit", "do nothing" and "save" trick and the pictures appeared. I double checked on another post that there was no change made by the site software to the actual code by checking it with both 'edit' and 'reply with quote' and the lower case img code was still lower case. See this post for example: https://forums.longhaircommunity.com...=1#post2771200

So, I don't think that auto-replacing img with IMG wouldn't effect the pictures that aren't embedding correctly. I'm no closer to understanding this gremlin.
