Default January 2019 - Braid Flip

On LHC this style is attributed to AprilElf, but all records have been lost to time except for the description that this is a braid of any style that is "flipped" up from the base of nape and the tassel hidden.

My best guess is that the braid is folded back upon itself. Probably easier done at shorter lengths.

    Lets see your creativity!

Just by coincidence I did this today to keep my hair out of the way for my workout. I held it up with a claw clip. I haven't tried this for working out before, and it worked really well as a workout 'do. I'm thinking of better ways to keep it up. I don't like metal bobby pins so I'll have to get creative.

Could you leave a pocket at the top somehow and then stuff the braid down in?

So this is what I did.

I did it like what I call a mermaid braid... which is kind of a terrible term because if you search "mermaid braid" you get a ton of different things.
Anyway, the way I mermaid braid creates a pocket at the top and I folded the braid and stuffed it down in.
No pins. Nothing but an elastic at the end of the braid and it's holding like gangbusters.
I will need this in summer!

Well I looked that up and it's like nothing I've ever tried before, but maybe something fun to work on. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Very pretty, Amaryllis!

My hair is a bit too long for this style so instead of braiding I ch4 and tucked. With a bit of practice I could perhaps make the result look decent.

    looks great!

I have done a braid flip variation where I do a "topsy tail" pony tail and then braid the hair. Then I flip the braid back up into the "topsy tail" part, tucking in the end. Then either pin in place or use a Flexi on top for decoration (kind of like a Gibson Tuck). It holds very well and looks far more complicated than it really is.

Very cool AR. I don't know what a mermaid braid is.

    Thank you all!

    Cg, what is ch4?

I couldn't find a video that showed what I mean by a mermaid braid, though I'm sure I learned it from a video in the first place! Maybe I'll make one if I can get the kid to record.
