    Default Nape hair

We’ve all got it to varying degrees. Some of us are able to style it into tendrils or slick it down or incorporate it into our ‘dos with pins, some have a pretty clearly defined hairline and probably never thought much about it. And some of us have a healthy collection of hairs that stubbornly break or just never grow longer than a few inches and refuse to cooperate with any effort to make them behave.

If you fall into the latter group (like me), and choose to remove them, how do you prefer to do it? Wax/sugar/pluck them off? Shave/trim them? Laser removal? Slather them in cheese? Please vote and then comment below.

    I’ll go first.

I voted pluck. I have a hairline, and then a few inches of baby fine hair that seems to have a terminal length of about 3 inches. I’ve always left it alone and tried to baby it so it would grow longer but no such luck, and it’s definitely not breakage (little cone ends). It makes my updos look unkempt as it refuses to tendril or do anything remotely cute - it just turns into a frizz cloud on the back of my neck. So a few days ago I just plucked them out, and it’s been such a relief to not fuss with them. I usually sugar my legs (when I’m not too lazy to care) so next time I make a batch I’ll probably try that.

I'm way to lazy to do anything with them (same goes for all my body hair tbh), and I generally prefer the messier look anyway because it softens my face. The only time my buns are neat and smooth is when my hair is super greasy because it's creeping up on wash day

I just try to protect them as much as I can by avoiding heat and slathering them in leave-in and/or oil. I remember the time when I did nothing to care for my hair and used heat almost every day... my nape hair was in hideous shape. I'd say it only grew maybe two inches before breaking and had damage in every strand up to scalp. I'm happy with my nape hair now.

I didn't even know it should bother me. Should it? I'm ok with short hair on my nape existing. It's just as precous to me as the hair on the top of my head. Why would I want to remove it?

Mine just does it's own thing. It's all part of my hair, so I like it just as much as the rest of my hair. I look after it, but don't really worry about whether it looks tidy or not. Everyone has them, after all, it's quite normal!

I just leave them alone. Sometimes they are more apparent in my neckline, other times not so much and I have no idea why. LOL. But I don't want wetness/wax or gel in my nape, so I just let it go.

Mine will curl, especially if I twirl them around a wet finger with a tiny bit of gel.

To clarify, no I definitely don’t think it’s something that should bother anyone. And for what it’s worth, I have plenty of other body hair that I don’t remove (lately, any of it haha).

I wasn’t trying to debate how we should feel about our nape hairs, just interested in the methods used by people who choose to remove them.

Nothing. The only thing that would truly help would be wearing low buns and I can't stand the feeling of that on my neck. I've recently started to think about pinning them in place because my sweet spot for buns seems to be getting slightly higher, but time will tell if I can be bothered - or even if they stay in place for more than 5 minutes
Length goal well and truly met, now just seeing how it grows ...
Picky scalp but easygoing hair, thank goodness
