Default Hair Doesn't Grow Long On The Sides

Does anyone else have hair that doesn't grow very long on the sides or in the front? My bangs and the hair by my ears doesn't want to grow longer than just past my chin. This makes for not much hair on the sides that is as long as the hair in the back.
Started growing at 42. Always admired and wanted long hair. Thrilled to find waves!!!

I got that too, but not all the hair on the front and sides is short, part of it is long. I can always pull out bangs if I want to, but I hope to get rid of them.
I think the reason can be my glasses: they always used to pull out a few hairs every day. But I got new glasses now, so hopefully my hair can start all growing long.

Mine is always shorter on the sides no matter what length the back is, but I think that's because it's thinner and breaks more easily from handling.

I have the same issue. My hair grows like a weed at the crown and in the back and my bangs will grow to my collarbone but its thin and see through, same with the sides. I have also tried everything I could think of to get some growth in these areas with no success. It looks weird to have thick healthy hair in the back but thin and see through in the front and sides.

My hair is really, really fine (as in thin) around my temples, going to super thick at the back of my head. I sued to think this was weird, but it seems like a lot of people have to same kind of hair pattern.

Yeah LutraLutra, My hair's very thin too closer to the temples! I thought it was a bad sign, as like areas that shed more, but now I see I'm not alone like this.

Soft hair that is nice to sit on - now I'm bragging!

I woke up this morning (yes it's relevant) and a bright thought crossed my mind.
Could it be so because we spent most of the night sleeping on the sides of our heads?
I sleep on my stomach, and my head is on the pillow either on one side or the other. So could it be possible that the temples rubbing against the pillow daily (nightly?) prevent from hair to grow/ thins it?
Do you guys sleep rest your head on the side when sleeping?

I'm another -- my former bang hair doesn't seem to grow as long, or at least as quickly, as the rest of my hair. I've been attempting to blunt-cut it, but I may be destined for a U hemline because the sides are permanently playing catch-up. It's not that they aren't growing, but there are many more short hairs in that region than there are long ones, and I think I have more breakage in that area, too.

My temples have some funny tufts that are very wavy and permanently about 4 inches long. Usually I can comb them into the rest of the hair, but on windy days it looks like I have horns.
