Growing is the default state of my hair. If my hair is not growing, I do nothing. I certainly wouldn't cut it shorter, as it's the exact opposite of what I want my hair to do. I just ask myself if I'm doing, or perhaps not doing, something which results in my hair growth stalling.

I remind myself that hair is hair. It’s not the silk blanket we see on TV, it’s organic, it gets tangled, it changes everyday and that’s ok.
I picture my goal in my mind and think “it’s ok, this journey has ups and downs but don’t give up on your goal”. At the end of the day hair will be the same (behave-wise) at any length, doing any drastic change won’t make a difference if what is bothering you is the very rebellious nature of hair itself.

Last time I got frustrated and cut off half of my length I realised that all I want to see on my head is long hair. Yes, I kinda liked how it looked shorter, but all I could think of was growing it back. I always wanted to have long hair, ever since I was little, I remember when I was 4 I would put tights on my head and pretend it's long hair (I'll post those photos on my blog here if I can find them, they're hilarious). Plus this huge chop helped me realise that starting over won't help, it wasn't like I had bleach and heat damage that I needed to get rid of to make my hair healthy. So yeah, I don't think of cutting even when my hair doesn't want to behave, S&D and microtrims are the most I'll do. And a deep treatment with coconut milk, that stuff works like magic.

I can get angly with my genes that provided me with fragile frizzy mess, but I'm never angry with my hair itself. I love it way too much.

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean by "hit a wall" in this context ? I'm a native English speaker and know what the phrase means when used figuratively like this... I just seem to be having a ditz moment as to how it applies to hair growth? Haha thanks in advance!

Oh I understand how this feels...If I was to get another haircut this would be it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4zgfiewXS4. She looks so fresh and sweet and natural with this cut. But what keeps me going is this video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJLk9VVDfo8. Part of me thinks you only live once have fun with the hair

I just know that at the end of the day, i would really regret it if i did cut to much off. my hair is an extension of myself. and honestly even wearing my hair up i sometimes feel off or lost. i know it sounds odd. but i never liked hair shears or scissors anywhere near my head as a child. so naturally it grew and i feel most comfortable with my hair worn down regardless of length. if i do get very upset with it i find that putting it into a pineapple or a high ponytail makes me realize how much hair i do have and how unique it is. because no one's hair is exactly the same. there are similarities. but nobody has your exact hair. even your brother or sister may deal with different issues. my quote that gets me through my frustrations is be you and stay beautiful cause there is noone out there quite like you you are unique. there are to many variables for someone to be exactly the same. be unique be strong be YOUtiful

I say to myself, but if I cut this short *points to TB*, its gonna take like 50 years just get back down to knee, no thanks and then I put it up and go do other crap.

Old pictures for sure! But also...Over the past year I've found more new white hairs than I ever have before and I realized I have limited time to enjoy my natural hair color, so that in particular keeps me growing it so I can have long dark brown hair at least once before I go kinda salt and pepper, haha... dramatic? Maybe. But I seriously have been getting so many all at once.

I remind myself that I've already had it all kinds of short, but never had it really long, so in fact it's far more interesting to just wait for it to get longer than it's ever been. *and that Pinterest board, of course*

Beautiful pictures of my long hair "idols." I look at them and I think "wow, I really want to have hair like that"
Also as others do, I look at pictures from when I had short hair. It didn't suit me very much
