I love -cones, and use them. If I can get the same slip from -cone free I would. But the two products I've tried in the past (Aveeda and Phyto silicone free conditioners) have left my hair ratty.

Sulfates on the other hand.. well, they irritate my scalp some. Nothing major, but I have noticed an improvement since going completely sulfate free.

Sulfates dry out my already dry scalp and seem to promote breakage for my hair. I hate the way silicones build up even though my hair is naturally porous, plus they make sulfates necessary. I'm better off without either of them.

Sulfates tend to make my hair dry and tangly, so I only use it to wash out heavy treatments with oils like castor or olive. Otherwise I use a shampoo bar and no conditioner, so no cones at all.

I use a silicone serum occasionally. Garnier sleek and shine.

I use sulphate and silicones regularly. My hair doesn't seem to mind them I guess.

(If anything, regular silicone based serums saved my hair from low humidity disaster. I love cones).

My hair loves cones - but in order to use them I have to use sulfates about one a week to two to 'clarify'. If I don't strip it all out occasionally then it gets very unruly!

I tried going 'cone and sulfate free when I first started here and tried some of the curly girl method stuff for my waves, but my hair did not respond well

    I use both.

I was silicone-free for a while without realising. My hair was just as healthy without them, but with cones detangling time is greatly reduced. This is probably no longer the case since I now have an improved method (and better tools) for detangling.

Sulfate-free I've never tried, I want to try, since it's the only thing I haven't tried before. I'm still wary because of scalp problems, but you never know until you try. They might be my wonder product lol.

Dimethicone is the third ingredient in my conditioner and sodium laureth sulfate is the second in my shampoo. I use them both about every week.

I use very diluted ACV shampoo once in a great while; otherwise whatever silicone free condish-only that catches my fancy.
