Regular trims are always best.
Only trim when needed.
I'm trying to trim as little as possible!
I'm still trying to figure it out!
Monthly S&D seems to do me best. My hair is very fine and delicate, so splits and tangles very easily...even in a braided bun. Even if I chop a few inches off, I'd always quickly find new splits within a few days. It does give a lot of taper at the ends, but I plan to get on top of that once I've reached my goal.

No Trim Feb 23rd 23 to Dec 31th 24
Early this February I started trimming 1/4" off the very longest tips every other week. But, after amonth, I stopped. So many other things I could do while it's growing. I mean wtf was I thinking?![]()

For me personally I trim about 1 - 1.5cm every two months and still notice good growth. I'd call this regular since I'm tidying up the ends as I go but I am planning on stretching my trims if I can.
For the past several years, I’ve been stretching the time between trims from 3 months to up to a year. It’s been 13 months since I’ve been to a salon now, not counting the self trim 4 months ago.
I only trim my ends once a year.
Hurray! I've reached waist-land! Last trim 1-2-23.Lady Roxanne,Keeper of the Caprines 🐐in the order of the Long Haired Knights.
I only trimmed when needed, which for me meant a year and a half of going without them! Not including S&D. However, after that long time period, my ends became too fragile and tangly, so I had to trim, and trim a bit more than I liked. So, I would say I prefer to trim regularly but as little as possible. Saves the ends and therefore, a lot of the length
That being said, I'd have never arrived at my length as fast as I did had I been trimming on the regular, lol. If I had to re-do that growth era, I'd do the same thing again.
I need regular trims. It slows my growth down, but I'm fine with that. I'm growing out layers, so more frequent trims gives them a chance to catch up and gives me the blunt hemline that I like.
