Yes I could tease and occasionally do. I have no plans to grow very long hair, so I don't need to be extremely careful. However I should have rather said, instead of "do", that I try to, because teasing just glides out of my hair. My hair type has change considerably since my teens and twenties, but this fact just stays. I would tease much more often if there was actual point. Also: teasing is no match to the wizardy of double crown: that sucker laughs at teasing and after it's laughed it parts like a red sea again.

Backcombing always made me cringe and always will. No thanks!
Longhair in the making. I've got a bit of a ways to go but it's only a matter of time. 2nd try.

Nope, never had any interest! It looks like it would make a mess of snarls and I'd never heard of it until after I joined here anyhow. I really hate tangles, so I always hated when my mother tried putting my hair in curlers for special occasions or used those dreaded thinning shears.

I guess I lived under a style rock. I think I am okay with that

I use to be that teenager on youtube that you are describing. I went through a pretty long and awful emo/scene phase.
When I joined LHC in 2011 I was still, coming out of it. And could not let go of that old styling habit.
Its been 5 years now, and I no longer do it, I grew out of it. Secretly I still wish I could have hair like that but there is no way you can do that AND have long hair.
I wore extensions the whole time I did my hair like that, but I am so done wearing fake hair and want long hair of my own.
So I threw away all my torture devices in 2012 and never looked back.

I did however have my hair teased and curled for my cousins wedding in September, I was a bridesmaid so I really had no choice.
Pay a woman 55$ to torture my hair and spray it with yucky sticky hair spray.
Did i mention that i sort of resent my cousin for making me go through that? LOL.

Hopefully I am never a bridesmaid again.

No, tho I have never ever styled my hair fancy or into a trend anyway.

How can I control my life when I can't even control my hair!

Even if it's not the worst thing I could do to my hair, it seems so violent I cringe thinking about it.

I was that kid in high school, with the blond, short layers on top and long, straight black hair on bottom. It was fun for a while, but it caused major damage to my hair, both the teasing and the straightening. Back then I wasn't concerned with caring for my hair or growing it out, so I didn't care that it was getting damaged. Now, though, I stick to soft, heatless, natural styles. No more backcombing for me!

It gives me the shivers to even consider it.
