About 10 years of trying different routines, but I'm finally settled with something that works really well for me.

    The result?

    - I trim my own hair twice a year, around midwinter and midsummer.
    - I wash my hair once a week or less, using a blend of organic soapnuts and herbs.
    - I finger comb my hair.

    And that's it.

I voted one to two years, but it has been so long that it might have been less than a year really. I'd probably have to check the archived boards to see! I tried quite a lot* of shampoos before the shampoo bars and have tried several different oils too. Once I found the shampoo bars though, I was pretty set! There are plenty of methods I have not tried since I stopped looking as soon as I found this one. Before that I had struggled for months with various "natural" brands but my hair never really seemed very nice and pre-LHC I used Mane n Tail just because it was the least offensive smelling thing I could find. I did try once to go back to using "normal" shampoo and conditioner, with cones even! Seduced by the cone-lovers of the forum.... My hair looked great at first, so soft and wow that shine! But then I started getting splits like crazy, far more than I ever had before and I'd made no other change. Back to my hippie ways. My scalp is a lot happier this way too.

    * I am pretty sure counting up in my head that quite a lot was probably about 6 haha. I realize this is nothing to many of you!

I still don't have an HG routine. I attribute it to having a fragrance allergy (MCS) and having almost no choices in hair products. There is only 1 fragrance free shampoo & conditioner in my town and I don't like it. ... I've never bought a fragrance free shampoo & conditioner that I liked. I'm still searching though.
And my hair doesn't like oils.
One day I'll find a good shampoo & conditioner.

Never. My hair keeps changing as it grows and I age, and every time I visit another climate it changes again. Luckily this forum provides many useful suggestions.

Still haven't found it yet. Although lately I'm liking CWC.

This is the happiest I've been with my hair, and I'm still learning, so I'd say it took 50 years not including childhood years.
