I'll jump in here too since I have an appointment for a trim in 2 weeks and I'm not sure what I want...
Option 1 - Trim just a tiny little bit to get rid of most split ends (the original plan)
Pros: I'd pretty much keep my length, it would be around a month's worth of growth; I'd probably reach waist by mid-summer;
Cons: Not all split ends would be gone; new split ends would appear soon enough and keep me scissor restless;
Option 2 - More layers
Pros: Most/all splits would be gone, waves would be wavier;
Cons: Might be less voluminous than I'd like, might end up growing them out/ wanting to chop them off;
Option 3 - Chop all the bleach off
Pros: healthier hair, no split ends, easier to prevent split ends down the line, might grow faster;
Cons: I'd be back to SL and I'd loose the fun orange ends, which are unachievable with natural colors.
I'd do the original plan natural hair still splits, it would be a shame to cut back to shoulder only to get more splits
Also cut off splits doesn't make your hair grow faster, you just retain length better
ooh cookies, I also think the original plan would be best! you can always S&D after your small trim if you find it necessary. Just first check to see how many split ends you have and the length of them too.
I would stick with the original plan also. It's the most conservative approach and if you aren't satisfied with it you can always move to option #2.

Thank you for the input, Bat, pumpkinsage and SandyBottom!
I mentioned in the Growing bleach out thread, that I'll either grow and chop, or chop and grow resulting in pretty much the same a year from now
But you're right there's not much of a point to cut it all now... Especially since I'm taking better care of it, so the ends look much better than they ever have, even if they're still dry.
So I'm crossing off option 3.
I might still go for the layers, mostly because I'm curious how it would look, but also because I do have the bleached parts to play with. I wouldn't layer any further than that though. I'll ask the hairdresser too, he tends to be quite conservative in terms of layering so he might agree with you too![]()
