Talking A more whimsical mode of measurement...

I recently had the very silly idea of measuring my hair by the tresses of iconic fictional characters. I did some research (relying heavily on Google image search ) and came up with this list of some well-known long-haired ladies (and gentlemen!) of fantasy and sci-fi. These are just the ones I happened to think of off the top of my head, please enlighten me so that I may add to the list! Also, these are based on images from films whenever possible; movie directors don't tend to put a lot of classic LHC-style length shots in their movies, and oftentimes clothing makes it difficult to judge anatomical markers, so please forgive any poor length judgements! I bow to your superior knowledge!! Here goes...

    Aragorn - SL

    Kili - SL

    Thorin - BSL

    Thranduil - WL

    Morticia Addams - WL

Merida (who doesn't envy that mane?) - WL to HL**

    Eowyn - HL+

    Arwen Undómiel - ~BCL

    Leia Organa - ~BCL

    Lady Galadriel - TBL

    Khal Drogo - Classic

    Princess Jasmine - Classic

    Queen Elinor - Calf

Angharad "Harry" Crewe (my personal inspiration ) - Ankle

Aerin (from The Blue Sword) - Ankle
(I guess Robin McKinley has a thing for characters with hair to their ankles...)

    And just for fun....

Lúthien - "great length": interpret that how you will!

**The length seemed to vary somewhat, which isn't too surprising given the fact that we're dealing with an animated character here, and one with very bouncy hair! I'm using the movie version, not the "sparkly" redesign. That version has hair around Classic length!

It's not a silly idea at all. In fact, I've always viewed hair length (men's) in terms of fictional male characters So :

    Aragorn (shoulder length)

    Kili (APL)

    Thorin (BSL)

    Thranduil (Waist)

Ah, Thranduil and his magnificent hair! Legolas has some great hair too, the elves have awesome genetics haha!

ETA: I nominate the beautiful Morticia Addams, I believe she hovers around WL.

Oh yes, let's make this an equal opportunity list!

Wonderful, wonderful! I used to have a quote of hers in my signature, and I still firmly believe it!

I'll add Khal Drogo from "Game of Thrones" for classic length. there seemed to be a skip from the OP of my current length.

ETA: I've seen different depictions of his lengths online, call me puzzled and confused.

Sure thing! Sorry, I couldn't think of anyone with CL, besides sparkly Merida (and she doesn't count!).

Someone did this before you on the Dutch/Belgian hairforum called "Raponsje", look at her version:

Looks like the images no longer work.

Hmm...It's a little hard to tell, since I'm not so multilingual (when it comes to useful languages, anyway), but it seems like she has information about each milestone, followed by entries for each character with accompanying pictures. Is that right?

Yes! It's not the easiest to try and translate the bulk of it, but that's the gist yes.
