You could just try CO-washing... Why not? Conditioner is softer than shampoo. It might work.
Thank you Anje! You're right that I can't access her blog. Since Sorbolene isn't available in the US and the ingredients in the vegetable version (which most seem to say works better than the other) are so different than anything I can think of here, of course I took the logical next step and looked up recipes. The DIY version seems to be emulsifying wax, glycerine, and oil, while the original [vegetable] ingredients are cetylstearyl alcohol, capric triglyceride (derrived from glycering and oil, but how?), oil, glycerine. This makes me wonder if I could use a light conditioner with a high cetyl- stearyl- or cetylstearyl content (Suave?), add oil and glycerine, and have a similar product for hair washing.
I know nothing about this potion brewing stuff.

Well it said "oil" and was already in my shower, so I washed my hair with this stuff this morning. It foamed like Castile soap and took very little to clean my whole scalp. Hair feels very clean. Of course I looked up the ingredients afterwards (they are not printed on the bottle) and yeah... I guess there's some oil in there.
At that price (and considering I made DW get rid of her Julep subscription) it will not be a regular thing.
I don't know what is OCM but I always oil my scalp and hair prewash. I don't keep it in long--combination of sheer laziness and I can't stand the oiliness for too long but everything gets out in cowash. I use silicone serums and silicone conditioners too (in addtiion to minoxidil on scalp) and I have never run into any problems--after two years of never shampooing, I can say that with reasonable confidence.
There is no equivalent. You can literally wash your skin with just oil and get it very clean. You cannot wash your hair with oil. Oil will not clean hair.
I hope you are able to find a cleaning method for your hair that works very well for you.
As an aside, I let my conditioner soak with my cowash.. But rather than starting my shower, I put my cowash in, throw a shower cap over the top, then my homemade hair turbie over that. Then I go about my business for, oh, 20 minutes or so, then hop in the shower and finish up. It saves on water and I can get random morning things done.

I started cowashing soon after I joined here about 3 years ago. My new hair (minoxidil induced) had grown in enough (2 years of use by then) and my scalp was normal. Hair was okay too but I have never enjoyed shampooing so I was intrigued by cowashing idea. Oiling hair and scalp is not a new step for me (it has been ingrained since birth). For cowash, I started with Trader Joe's conditioners, bought two of them and tried both and found it worked best when I used Tea Tree Tingle on scalp and Nourish Spa (this has a silicone) on the length. I pretty much stuck with this routine since then. Initially, I was shampooing every few months but I phased that out when I saw no benefit. I also use Loreal conditioner (Total Repairs I think it is called) as rinse out conditioner but that is something I would have used even with shampoo.
